“Salads. Burgers. Together.” Meat lovers and vegetarians rejoice! Located on Forbes Avenue, Hello Bistro offers both salads and burgers. Most restaurants these days either specialize in one or the other, hardly both! They do have a salad menu, but also give the option to build your own. Their salad bar is one of the largest on campus as they offer a wide variety of greens, protein, dressing, cheese, and other good stuff. A neat thing about their menu is that they offer “crunchies”. These crunchies are croutons, Chow Mein noodles, dried cranberries, peanuts, slivered almonds, sunflower seeds, and tortilla strips. I don’t think I’ve ever had tortilla strips on my salad, but I appreciate having the option! When it comes to dressings they offer a total of 17, all of which are gluten free! These dressings vary from ranch to citrus chipotle barbecue to Thai peanut, so it is quite a variety! All create your own salads are $8.25 but if you add meat, tofu, or avocado there is an additional charger on top of this.

When I find myself at Hello Bistro, I tend to order a burger. I order Hello Bistro Burger which is a patty with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, and pickles except I ask for no lettuce, tomato, or mustard. This is not the best burger in the world, but it does get the job done. However, when I am in the mood for a good burger and have the option of going elsewhere, I do typically choose Five Guys over Hello Bistro because it is only a fifty-cent price difference and the buns are much better.
Now one thing that I absolutely love about Hello Bistro are the fries. I can always count on the fries to be slightly crisp and salty without having a starchy taste. A starchy taste is one that can be tasted whenever eating steak fries. This taste can be found in the skinny cut fries we all know and love whenever they are thicker than a pencil. A tip about fries from Hello Bistro is that they taste amazing dipped first in ranch, and then ketchup. This combination is truly amazing, so I recommend trying it before completely writing it off.
Overall, apart from the salads, Hello Bistro is a pretty average place. They used to offer milkshakes, which set them apart from competition, but they have since gotten rid of them. So, if you want a good large portion of salad or fries Hello Bistro is your place! If you want anything else, I would go elsewhere.
I LOVE Hello Bistro. I appreciate your honesty in relation to your opinions about the burgers at here. If I want a place to get a good burger, I definitely want to make the best choice. I couldn’t agree with you more about their fries, though– they’re totally the bomb dot com. Very nice post!

I agree, this place is pretty average. But for a decently affordable quick lunch, it’s decent. I didn’t know they ever had milkshakes, I totally missed out!

In all my time at Pitt I’ve never been to Hello Bistro. I had no idea that they had burgers. Just thought they were a salad place.
