“It makes me pretty angry that we go to school that has a lot of money but, yet the food is so subpar”
-Walter Crouch Jr.
Subpar. That is a word that comes to a lot of students’ mind when asked about Market. Located in Litchfield Towers, Market Central does not require any “real money” and only costs you one swipe. This is the perfect place to go when you don’t want to spend American dollars or dining dollars. Inside Market you can find stir-fry, pasta, salad, ice cream, and my favorite, omelettes! Of course, you can always count on market having hamburgers, fries, and chicken patties to satisfy your hunger any time after 11 am.
Tips and Tricks
- To get a perfectly cooked waffle, use the waffle machine but take your waffle out with 30 seconds left to go!
- For a nice sweet and savory meal, add a chicken patty (which are normally pretty crisp) to the top of your waffle for chicken and waffles! Don’t forget the syrup!

- For a quesadilla, go to the wrap station and ask for a wrap with cheese in it, then put it in the panini press. You can also make a grilled cheese by using regular bread instead of a tortilla. To spice this up, you can add cut up grilled chicken inside of your tortilla for a chicken and cheese quesadilla.
- Want breakfast for dinner but not in the mood for waffles? The omelette station, located next to the burgers, is open all day! They offer spinach, ham, cheese, tomatoes, onions, peppers, bacon, and mushrooms!

- Market sometimes has pre-made caesar salad plates by the pizza, add some grilled chicken to this for a grilled chicken caesar salad! Yum!
- Tired of the pre-made eggs that market serves at breakfast? Go to the 360 station before 10:30am and patiently wait in line and politely ask for just two eggs and low and behold, they will fry you up two eggs!
- Pro Tip: Bring in sandwich baggies, a regular sized bag, (can be purchased at market to-go) and a sneaky attitude to take some food for later! I recommend sitting in a booth or a corner and making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches two at a time. I recommend putting peanut butter on both slices of bread and then putting jelly in between the peanut butter to prevent the bread from getting soggy.
Classic Market. So gross but so convenient. Did you hear about how they recently had 14 different health code violations? I am disgusted but honestly not surprised. I loved the tip about making quesadillas by asking for a tortilla with cheese and bring it to the panini press. I never thought of that and would have definitely gotten those all the time if I had known as a freshman!

I did see that! Super gross but I have to admit the one about the half eaten donut with sprinkles did make me chuckle!

I work at Panther Central and I spent an entire day answering angry parents about the multiple health code violations. Your tips and tricks seem very helpful, but for now I probably would stay clear of it and make the hike to The Perch if you are eating off of a meal plan.
